It’s no surprise that Donald Trump has caused outrage again with his latest suggestion for a coronavirus cure, leaving everyone wondering how is Donald Trump still President?
Donald Trump’s latest controversy left the medical community and, well, the whole world in outrage during last month’s briefing. The White House coronavirus task force briefing, had William Bryan, acting head of US Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, outlined new coronavirus findings at the news conference.
It was explained that testing and results found that coronavirus appeared to weaken more quickly when exposed to sunlight and heat. The study also showed bleach could kill the virus in saliva or respiratory fluids within five minutes and isopropyl alcohol could kill it even more quickly.
Trump was quick to inject, asking:
“Is there a way we can do something, by an injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”
Attendees and medical experts watched on in astonishment as the president went on to state that disinfectant“knocks it out in a minute. One minute!”. In the days running up to the conference, Trump received a letter from Mark Grenon informing the president about bleach as a ‘miracle cure’. Chlorine dioxide, a powerful cleaning agent used in industrial processes, was described as being able to “rid the body of Covid-19”. It seems this information was the influencing factors behind Trump’s coronavirus news.
You can’t predict what Trump is going to say next, but it seems this claim went one major step too far. The public’s reaction was of instant horror, with medical professionals warning that bleach is extremely dangerous for the body and could lead to death. Twitter went crazy as usual, with people all over the world flabbergasted by Donald Trump’s latest lack of common sense, awareness and sensitivity.
