Real Madrid issue ultimatum of £30 million for Modric

When first starting to negotiate a fee for Modric, Real Madrid refused to pay no more than £27.7 million which sat at 35 million Euros. However Florentino Perez has now issued his final ultimatum over the Modric saga with Real Madrid willing to pay £30 million, but that is it. This figure though is said to be well under what Spurs are asking which is £40 million.

This situation has led to Madrid manager Jose Mourinho speaking directly to chairman Daniel Levy to try and resolve the issue but it ended without success. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is adamant on receiving £40 million for the player and is said to be refusing even a player + cash offer. There have been claims from Modric’s aids that he was given assurances from Levy that he would be allowed to leave this summer.

Modric was refused a move to Chelsea last summer when chairman Levy was once again adamant on not letting him leave. The player had even gone AWOL to force his move away from Spurs this summer but that petulance seems to have made Levy even more determined to keep hold of one of Spurs prized assets.

Spurs are also in the market for new strikers, having seen their attempts to purchase Adebayor stall, they are now attempting to sign brazilian striker Damiao.
