Van Persie has one year left on his contract but Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says he does not expect to sign the Dutch forward. Mancini said: “Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here.”

Robin Van Persie has travelled with Arsenal for the club’s pre season training camp in Germany. Arsenal play Cologne this Sunday and it is not known as to whether the Dutch player will play a part.  Van Persie has been subject to offers from Manchester United as well as Juventus but all bids have failed to secure the striker.

Having won the Professional Footballers Association and Football Writers Association player of the year awards, he is not short of admirers. Arsenal are though continuing to increase their squad with their imminent arrival of Malaga player Santi Cazorla. They have made significant improvements to their squad and it is unknown as to whether Van Persie might be reconsidering his position with the club.

On the other side, Manchester City are yet to make any signings which is a complete turnaround from previous seasons.
