They have taken a while to get their first signings of the transfer window but it looks like Mancini’s side will be acquiring  Everton and England U21 player Jack Rodwell. The medical will take place today and the fee is undisclosed but it is thought Everton valued the player at £15 million.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said: “We consider Jack Rodwell to be a good, young player. He will be an important midfielder for the England national team and for us. We need someone who wants to win, is good tactically and is a good player for the future.”

Mancini said on Friday that he was not happy at the clubs lack of transfers in the summer transfer window. the club have been linked with a number of players but they have not come to fruition. Rodwell will come into the side with the likely departure of Nigel De Jong and also the uncertainty Gareth Barry’s injury.
