Chelsea had made an offer of £30 million for Porto striker Hulk which they though was a fair offer for the 26 year old. However it seems Russian outfit Zenit have made a huge £40 million bid for the player and there chase seems all but over.

Chelsea refused to move their valuation of the player and hoped the Hulk and his agent would try to make Porto agree to a  more realistic price. However Zenit are in prime position as they are also offering to give Porto Portuguese defender Bruno Alves with the deal. The news comes as Gazprom who own Zenit were announced as the sponsors of Chelsea.

Hulks agent Fonseca said: “Sometimes we want a player to continue, but the conditions do not allow it to happen. Who would not play in the Premier League, for Chelsea or one of the other big clubs? But sometimes clubs have to give up a right, a player or a person in order to keep the whole structure. People come and go and the clubs continue.”
