On this day in 1997 after the sudden death of Hip-Hop icon Notorious BIG, Puff Daddy, Faith Evans and 112 of Bad Boy Records reached number #1 with their dedication single “I’ll Be Missing You“. Taken off Sean Combs and the Family’s No Way Out album, the track sampled “Every Breath You Take” by The Police. Topping the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Chart, it also reached number one in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and New Zealand.
