Larry Bird will not be returning to the Indiana Pacers as GM according to the Indianapolis Star. The Hall of Fame NBA player is suffering from health problems and will assess any possible front-office positions in a year’s time. The 55-year-old is “100 percent sure” he will not stay on and this opens up the position to Bird’s predecessor, former CEO Donnie Walsh, who is expected to return to the franchise in some capacity. Bird will finalise his departure with Pacers owner Herb Simon today, effectively cancelling their yearly handshake agreement.
