Jordi Alba has been in impressive form during the Euro 2012 championships and it seems Barcelona have been impressed with the left back for some time now. There were rumours circulating towards the end of last season that the player would be on his way to the Nou Camp.
Barcelona agreed a fee with Valencia reported to be £11.2 million subject to a medical. “He is young, quick, skillful and stands out for his attacking spirit. He often poses a headache for rival right-backs,” Barca said on their website. Alba who many of you might not know played a key part to bringing success to Valencia last season.
He becomes the first signing of new manager Tito Vilanova however it is though the his predecessor Pep Guardiola also wanted to go ahead with the deal before he stepped down from his post. Alba has 10 caps for his country so far and 5 of them have come from playing in the Euro 2012 tournament. At 23 years of age the deal is a good one for Barcelona who put importance on young players.
