Dubai is home to some of the most extravagant hotels in the world but they could be about to outdo themselves. They are about to build a half submerged hotel with rooms that are completely under the water.
The hotel has been designed by Deep Ocean Technology and has been dubbed the ‘Water Discus Hotel. It is shaped like discs which make it look like some sort of evil villains lair. ‘Today, the advent of new technology made the heart of the ocean a setting not only for diving, but also for luxurious holidays,’ said a spokesperson for BIG InvestConsult, a Swiss company behind the development.
As you can see from the pictures the hotel is made up of 2 discs. The first one is above the water the second is below at up to 10 meters deep. It will consist of a total of 21 rooms which will adjacent to the dive centre and bar. If you are thinking the water might be too dark for you to even see, you would be wrong. They will be implementing a lighting system as well as having the technology is some rooms to zoom in on tiny creatures using macro photography.
They have also taken into account any natural disaster that could occur with the top disc being able to withstand tsunamis and flooding. The underwater disc also automatically surfaces if there is any danger. This is not the fist hotel to offer underwater stays, that honor goes to the Rangali islands resort in Maldives.
