The new weapons known as ‘sonic cannons’  are to be used during the Olympic games. The weapon lets out  a pain inducing noise which makes large crowds disperse. The device is made in the U.S and it expected to be used during the Euro 2012  football championships.

The noise these devices can emit is up to 150 decibel which is the same as a jet engine. If you are thinking that ordinary people might get caught up in all the chaos with the noise, you would be wrong. The device can be targeted at certain groups in crowds.

It has been used in Iraq and also used in the fight against Somali pirates. Ministry of Defence spokesman said: ‘As part of the military contribution to the police led security effort to ensure a safe and secure games, a broad range of assets and equipment is being used by our armed forces.’
