Alex Ferguson has said that United need to be up there with the bog boys in terms of spending money to attract world stars. Well it seems that there are rumours of Ferguson trying to lure Van Persie to Old Trafford. The Dutchman who has scored 35 goal this season and was voted PFA player of the year is in demand.

Italian giants Juventus has made their intentions cleat in the last few days but it remains to be seen where the players future lies. Manchester City are set to offer the player £250,000 a week to entice him to the Etihad. With just one year remaining on his contract though, Ferguson is looking to splash the cash and make one of the biggest signings for United in the past few seasons.

Everton player Leighton Baines is also on Fergusons list. This move seems more likely as sources say Van Persie’s intentions are to play abroad.
