Manchester City to tempt Gareth Bale and Spurs with £40million offer

Gareth Bale has long been touted as a player who is being chased by the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid et al. However news this morning has emerged that the Spurs player is wanted by Manchester City and they are willing to offer £40 million  to Spurs as well as pay Bale over £100k a week.

Bale has said that he wants to be playing Champions League football and would look elsewhere. Bale: “If we don’t [qualify for the Champions League], I have to discuss what’s best for myself.”

The wage structure at Spurs is so restrictive that it makes keeping hold of their star players  a problem. Bale would be earning £30 million over 5 years at Manchester City where as at Spurs it would take him nearly 10-15 years to make that sort of money.

The move could also see City off load players to Spurs in exchange for the welsh winger. How likely this is to happen will all depend funnily enough on Manchester City’s game with Newcastle. If Newcastle win and Spurs lose, then Newcastle would be in the driving seat for a champions league place.
