Reports coming out of Spain are indicating that Manchester City are prepared to make a player plus cash offer to land Barcelona right back Dani Alves. The premier league champions are prepared to offer Barcelona 15 million euros as well as Aleksandar Kolarov who they splashed out £17 million on a couple of years ago.

Mancini said: ‘Barcelona and Real Madrid every year buy two or three players and spend a lot of money. I think for Manchester City it will be the same. We need to improve. We need to have the strength to play Champions League and Premier League.’

After the resignation of Pep Guradiola, players could be tempted to leave the club.
