LA Clippers v San Antonio Spurs, Game 1 – Tim Duncan leads Spurs to win over Clippers (video)

Blake Griffin was a doubt for this game as coach Vinny Del Negro said: “I don’t know yet, I’ll make that decision tomorrow after shootaround, after I talk to the trainer. In the end Griffin did play but it didn’t matter as Tim Duncan led the SPurs to a convincing 108 – 92 win against the LA Clippers.

The Clippers were led by Eric Bledsoe on 23 points while Chirs Paul looked like he was still not up to his best after injuries in the 7 game series versus the Grizzlies. Spurs coach Gregg Popvich: “Tim (Duncan) was solid as usual. He’s played like that all year long. He’s not going to do anything that will be a highlight film for TV, but a highlight film for coaches. He’s an anchor out there.”

It was the second and third quarter the effectively killed the game with spurs scoring 28 and 20 points respectively. The clippers managed only 20 & 23 which led to a big ask in the final quarter.

Chris Paul on his performance: “I got every shot I wanted. We weren’t effective. Some of our guys were. But 3-of-13 shooting (that Paul had), that’s not going to do anything.”
