Roy Hodgson’s England squad has been announced and the surprise omission from the squad is Rio Ferdinand. However to be perfectly honest the defender has had injury problems all season. This will not alleviate the problem of Hodgson pairing Ferdinand up with John Terry.
The surprise entry for the team is Arsenal’s Oxlade-Chamberlain and Norwich keeper John Ruddy. There was much talk on twitter about the omission of Carrick who has been one of the stand-out performers for Manchester United this season.
There was also no room for Micah Richards who was part of the title winning Manchester City side as well as Peter Crouch. Crazily though Andy Carroll made the squad, which is one of the most ludicrous decisions I have ever witnessed.
The stand-by list includes Jordan Henderson who if we are being honest as not done anything worthwhile since leaving Sunderland. Players such as these are left on the reserves while Carrick and Micah Richards cannot get a look in.
The inclusion of James Milner who has barely featured for his club this season will also incense some Manchester United fans.
