Arsene Wenger is said to be after Spanish striker Llorente after his impressive season with Athletic Bilbao, where Bilbao reach the UEFA cup final and the Copa del Rey. The 27 year old only has one year left on his contract and is fairly open to a move to the premier league. You might think with only one year left that he would be a lot cheaper, but Bilbao are not willing to move on their price.
The move will depend on what happens with the Van Persie situation. The striker has been in limbo as to where his future lays. Wenger will want to act quick to secure the Dutchman’s services but knows that if he does leave, he has a list of possible replacements.
Wenger has also sounded out Llorente’s team-mate Javi Martinez and Montpellier’s Olivier Gould. These are players that will not come cheaply, which is something Wenger thrives on. So either Wenger has had a brain transplant or these are merely just rumours. We shall wait and see!
