With his future is doubt it would seem a perfect fit for Barcelona to snare Arsenal’s prized asset again. However they have ruled themselves out trying to persuade the Dutchman to join the La Liga champions.
Club spokesman Toni Freixa said: For Barça, any good player is of interest – and van Persie is a great player. But [we have] no intention of signing him for now,” speaking to The Sport Review.
“He came to our hotel in London because he is Dutch and so is Ibrahim Afellay. They had a coffee together. He didn’t come to see us and there was no conversation.”
It looks likely though that David Villa will be leaving, La Liga expert Guillem Balague has hinted many times that he believes that Villa is growing frustrated with his wide role to accommodate Messi.
