We, at The Control Room, were asked to guest blog here on this awesome site and so bring news of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game to you. Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
It’s set during the American Civil War (so 1753-83). Previous assassins, such as Ezio, do not make any sort of appearance in this game – we get a new guy instead. His name is Ratohnhaké:ton, or Connor for short. He’s a Native American Indian who is determined to defend his homeland against the colonists that have just invaded. Due to the course of history, we already know who’s going to win, but he’s the kind of guy you want to root for. During the game you’ll be killing a lot of colonists in an attempt to keep them away from your home. You’ll even get the chance to encounter people such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson throughout. We’ve been told that this game is going to be spread across 30 years of Connor’s life – a pretty long time and sure to make for some good gameplay.
The controls and general gameplay will be the same as the previous games, so it will be pretty easy to get used to again – you’ll be swinging from buildings in no time. The only exception is in the case of the Wii U release (the latest console from Nintendo). we’re interested to see how the controls are going to work for this one, especially as Nintendo have stated that the controller will be using a touch screen.
The fact that the latest instalment in the Assassin’s Creed universe will take place over such a long span of time suggests lengthened gameplay, which will be good for those who have felt the past two Assassin’s Creed games have been too short and lacking in story.
It’s coming to Europe October 31st 2012, in the first three weeks the number of pre-orders topped those of Brotherhood and Revelations. Something tells me that this game is going to be big and you’re going to want to be there for it.
We’ll see you again.
