Peyton Manning Press conference recap

Denver unveiled Manning as their starting quarter back on a five year $96 million contract. The fee will be paid with $18million in 2012, £20 million in 2013 & 2014 if he passes a team physical. Denver have been smart though as there is an injury waver in the contract covering Mannings neck and it is understood that if he re-injures his neck again in the 2013 season the Broncos will not be paying the 2014 money. Before each league year he is expected to pass a physical for him to get his salary.

“I’m very excited to begin the next chapter of my playing career with the Denver Broncos,” Manning said.

“I have work to do,” Manning said. “I’m not where I want to be. I want to be where I was before I was injured. There’s a lot of work to do to get where we want to be from a health standpoint.”

Former employer Jim Irsay of the Colts said : “I congratulate Peyton as he heads to a tremendous organization in the Denver Broncos. We wish him nothing but the best as he continues his Hall of Fame career,”.

Manning has said that his former Colts player Jeff Saturday is the key to his success and now with Manning at the Broncos, Saturday will be looking at the team with great interest.

About the on going trades that will occur because of this Peyton Manning trade Robert Ayers of the Broncos said: “I think we’ll sign some guys, probably a few guys, like Dallas Clark, Jeff Saturday, guys waiting to see what Peyton was going to do,”.  “Defensive guys want to play with a lead, and I’m pretty sure guys are going to assume Peyton will put up points in this offense. We have some weapons.”
