Apple has offered to refund iPads in Australia after customers had made complaints that they had been misled with regards to the iPads 4G capabilities. Australia’s Consumer watchdog took Apple to court for false advertising, as the 4G network Apple said would work, does not work in Australia.
Apple released a statement though saying that they did not mislead customers. See what you think: “Apple’s recent promotion of the new ‘iPad with wi-fi + 4G’ is misleading because it represents to Australian consumers that the product can, with a sim card, connect to a 4G mobile data network in Australia, when this is not the case.”
In court Apple claimed that they never said the device would work fully on Australia’s 4G network. They had wormed their way out of it by claiming that it works on what many people consider to be a 4G network!
The full trial will be on May 2nd when Apple will have to answer the accusations tabled against them.
